The Baltimore & Ohio Rail Road is one of the oldest and long-living railroads of America. The building of the road had began already in 1828. The main line led from Baltimore to Wheeling. The 379 miles long railroad was completed in 1853. It developed to a huge network with final destinations in Baltimore, Ohio, Chicago und St. Louis in the course of time. The railroad network was more than 3,000 miles long.
