The company was formed by the merger of the Compañia de Commercio y Fábrico de Toledo with the Compañia Real de la Extremadura in 1748. New shares were issued to finance the acquisition of land and the lay out plantations. Silkworms and mulberry leaves, shown on the share certificate, show clearly the object of the company, which cultivated mulberry plantations, bred silkworms and produced silk. The French Revolution affected the trade with the luxury good silk massively. This was the reason why the company went bankrupt.
