 General William Mahone war Eisenbahnpionier und wurde im Sezessionskrieg Generalmajor und 1880 Senator von Virginia.
Histoire (Anglais)
 Collis Porter Huntington (1821-1900), along with Leland Stanford, Charles Crocker and Mark Hopkins, was one of the Big Four of California, who built the western portion of the transcontinental railroad, the Central Pacific Railroad. After completion of this project, Huntington took up the idea of a southern East-West connection and for that purpose founded the Southern Pacific Railroad. Together with Leland Stanford, Huntington was clearly the most active of the Big Four.
