 Die Orinoco Steam Navigation Company wurde 1847 mit Hilfe eines speziellen Gesetzes des States New York und einer Konzession der Regierung von Venezuela gegründet. Der Fluss Orinoco in Südamerika versprach interessante Geschäftsmöglichkeiten, welche die Orinoco Steam Navigation Company ausnutzen sollte.
Histoire (Anglais)
 The Orinoco Steam Navigation Company was "organized under special act of the Legislature of the State of New York and concessions from the government of Venezuela" in 1847. The Orinoco River offered a valuable commercial connection into South America, and the Orinoco Steam Navigation Company was organized to function in that market.
