Die Eisenbahngesellschaft wurde 1863 gegründet. Sie wollte eine Bahnstrecke von White Plains (New York) in Richtung Nord-Osten über Danbury nach Brookfield (Connecticut) entlang des Housatonic bauen. Allerdings wurde die Strecke nur bis Danbury gebaut. Am 01.05.1874 pachtete die Housatonic Railroad die Strecke und eröffnete sie.
The company was chartered in 1863 to run from White Plains (New York) northeast via Danbury to Brookfield (Connecticut) on the Housatonic. But it was only built till north of Danbury. The Housatonic Railroad leased and opened it on 1 May 1874.
