Samuel Hall (1800-1870) war ein erfolgreicher Schiffbauer. 1828 konstruierte er zusammen mit seinen beiden Brüdern die ersten Schiffe. 1839 errichtete er dann in East Boston eine Werft. Im gleichen Jahr wurde das 650-Tonnen-Schiff Akbar für den Opium-Handel der Familie Forbes vom Stapel gelassen. Richtig berühmt wurde Hall 1850, als mit der Surprise der erste in Massachusetts gebaute Clipper vom Stapel lief. Insgesamt baute Hall 110 Schiffe. Samuel Hall war President der East Boston Ferry Company, der East Boston Dry Dock Company sowie der Maverick National Bank.
Samuel Hall (1800-1870) was a shipbuilder. With his two brothers he built several vessels by 1828. In East Boston he established a shipyard in 1839. That same year, he launched the 650-ton Akbar for the opium trade of the Forbes family. His real prominence comes from the launch of the Surprise in 1850. This ship was the first clipper built in Massachusetts. 110 ships were launched from his yard altogether. Samuel Hall was president of the East Boston Ferry Company, of the East Boston Dry Dock Company and of the Maverick National Bank.
