 Die Firma wurde 1979 als Industriebeteiligungen Dr. Bernau und Naubauer GmbH gegründet. 1984 erfolgt die Umwandlung in die Berliner Elektro-Beteiligungen AG. Kurz darauf brachte die Deutsche Bank die Aktien an die Börse. 1989 firmierte die Gesellschaft in Berliner Elektro Holding AG und elf Jahre später in AdCapital AG um.
