Der Canal de Bourgogne, zu Deutsch Burgund-Kanal, verläuft fast ausschließlich in der französischen Region Burgund. Der Schifffahrtskanal verbindet auf einer Länge von 242 Kilometern die Flüsse Yonne und Saône. Über die Seine, die Yonne, die Saône und die Rhône stellt er eine Verbindung vom Atlantik zum Mittelmeer her. Erste Planungen gab es bereits unter König Ludwig XII. und König Franz I. 1775 begannen schließlich die ersten Vorarbeiten zwischen Yonne und Tonnerre. Bis der Kanal allerdings komplett vollendet war, dauerte es bis 1832. |

The Canal de Bourgogne, in English Burgundy Canal, is a canal in Burgundy in central eastern France. It connects the river Yonne with the Saône. The canal completes the link between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea, via the rivers Seine and the Yonne to the Saône and Rhône. There were first ideas of constructing a canal during the reign of King Ludwig XII and King Franz I. Construction began in 1775, and was completed in 1832. |
