 Das First Chilean Navy Squadron war die Flotte, die die spanische Kolonialherrschaft an der Westküste Südamerikas beendete. Sie wurde zur Hauptfigur der wichtigsten Marine-Aktionen im lateinamerikanischen Unabhängigkeitskrieg. Von der chilenischen Regierung organisiert, um die Unabhängigkeit von Chile und Argentinien zu sichern, erfolgte eine der wichtigsten Maßnahmen im Jahr 1818: Durch die Eroberung der spanischen Fregatte Maria Isabel wurde ein Konvoi von zwölf Schiffen gestoppt, der dem Vizekönig von Peru und damit einem Zentrum der spanischen Macht in Südamerika 2400 Männer als Verstärkung bringen sollte.
Factos históricos (Inglês)
 The First Chilean Navy Squadron was the naval force that finished the Spanish colonial rule in the West Coast of South America. It was the protagonist in the most important naval actions in the Latin American war of independence. The squadron was organized by the Chilean government in order to secure the independence of Chile and Argentina. One of the main action was the Capture of the Spanish frigate Maria Isabel in 1818. This action stopped a convoy of twelve ships carrying 2400 men as a reinforcement to the Viceroy of Peru, being a center of the Spanish power in South America.
