 Die Gesellschaft wurde 1812 als Regent’s Canal gegründet um den Grand Junction Canal mit der Themse zu verbinden. 1820 war der Kanal fertig gestellt. Im Jahr 1882 kam es zur Reorganisation des Unternehmens und zur Umbenennung in Regent’s Canal, City & Docks Railway Company. Ab 1900 lautete die Firma dann nur noch Regent’s Canal & Docks Company. Der Kanal wurde 1948 verstaatlicht.

 The company was founded as Regent’s Canal in 1812. It combined the Grand Junction Canal with the Themse. The canal was finished in 1820. In 1882, the company was reorganized and renamed in Regent’s Canal, City & Docks Railway Company. The name was changed to Regent’s Canal & Docks Company in 1900. In 1948, the canal was nationalized.
