 Die Bahn wurde 1852 konzessioniert. 1860 wurde die Strecke von Canton (Mississippi) nach Jackson (Tennessee) eröffnet. Im Jahr 1873 kam es zur Verlängerung der Strecke nach Cairo und vier Jahre später zur Pleite. Die Gesellschaft wurde reorganisiert und mit der New Orleans, Jackson & Northern Railroad zur Chicago, St. Louis & New Orleans Railroad fusioniert.
Factos históricos (Inglês)
 The railway got it's concession in 1852. In 1860 the company opened the railway from Canton (Mississippi) to Jackson (Tennessee). In 1873 the line was enlarged to Cairo. In 1877 the company went bankrupt. The company was reorganized. It merged with the New Orleans, Jackson & Northern Railroad to form the Chicago, St. Louis & New Orleans Railroad.
