Factos históricos (Alemão)
 Die ersten Überlegungen zum Bau der Bahnstrecke gehen bis 1829 zurück. Geplant war eine Magistrale von Strasbourg nach Mainz, die das linksrheinische Gegenstück zu einer Linie von Mannheim bis Basel bilden sollte. Erst am 03.11.1852 gab der bayerische König Maximilian II. grünes Licht für den Bau. Erbaut wurde die Maximiliansbahn von Paul Camille von Denis, der auch die Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn errichtete. Der erste Streckenabschnitt, von Neustadt nach Landau wurde am 18.07.1855 eröffnet. Vier Monate später folgte der Abschnitt Landau-Weißenburg und im März 1864 die Strecken von Winden nach Maximilansau. Am 08.05.1865 wurde die Lücke zwischen Maximiliansau und der badischen Maxaubahn von Karlsruhe nach Maxau geschlossen. Von Beginn an bestand mit der Pfälzischen Ludwigsbahn eine Verwaltungs- und Betriebsgemeinschaft. Am 01.01.1870 gingen beide Firmen in gemeinschaftliche Verwaltung der Vereinigten Pfälzischen Eisenbahnen über. Am 01.01.1909 ging die Maximiliansbahn zusammen mit den übrigen zur Pfalzbahn gehörenden Gesellschaften in das Eigentum der Bayerischen Staats-Eisenbahnen über.
Factos históricos (Inglês)
 The first considerations about the construction of the railway line go back to 1829. A magistral from Strasbourg to Mainz was planned which should be the counterpart to the line from Mannheim to Basel. Only on 03 November 1852 the Bavarian King Maximilian II gave the go-ahead for the construction. The railway line was constructed by Paul Camille von Denis, who also had erected the Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn. The first section from Neustadt to Landau was opened of 18 July 1855. Four months later followed the section Landau-Weißenburg and in March 1864 the line from Winden to Maximilansau. On 08 May 1865 the gap between Maximiliansau and the Maxaubahn in the Baden region from Karlsruhe to Maxau was closed. From the very beginning the Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn had been an administrative and operational partnership. On 01 January 1870 both company passed into a joint administration of the Vereinigten Pfälzischen Eisenbahnen. On 01 January 1909 the Maximiliansbahn together with the other companies belonging to the Pfalzbahn passed into the property of the Bavarian State Railway.
