 Die Luxemburgische Nationalbank wurde 1873 gegründet. Sie war die zweite Bank des Großherzogtums, die Banknoten ausgeben durfte. 1881 ging das Institut in Liquidation, da die Regierung ein Dekret herausgab, in dem bekanntgemacht wurde, dass die Banknoten künftig nicht mehr akzeptiert werden. Dies führte zu einer Bankenkrise, in deren Folge die Regierung sich gezwungen sah, die Banknoten doch noch komplett einzulösen.
Factos históricos (Inglês)
 The bank was the second bank in Luxembourg which issued notes. It was founded in 1873. The bank went into liquidation in 1881, when the government decreed that the bank notes of the bank should no longer be accepted. This created a bank crises and the government finally agreed to repay the full value of the bank notes.
