Factos históricos (Inglês) |
Alexandre Darracq began the production of cycles in 1891. He sold his cycles and later his cars under the brand Gladiator. The Italian company was founded to conquer the Italian market. There was an assembly plant in Naples. But the cars built there sold not very well. Therefore the plant was moved to Milano and in 1910 finally sold to investors. The name of the company was changed to Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili (ALFA). In 1915 the major shareholder, the Banca di Sconto, installed Nicola Romeo as new boss of the plant. His name became later part of the company' name: ALFA-ROMEO. |
