| Die Hafengesellschaft der in der Grafschaft Kent am Ärmelkanal gelegenen Stadt Folkestone wurde 1807 durch ein Act of Parliament gegründet. Doch die wiederholte Versandung des Hafens machte der Gesellschaft zu schaffen. 1842 ging das Unternehmen in Konkurs. Die Hafenanlagen fielen in die Hände der South Eastern Railway Company (SER). Diese bekam die Probleme in den Griff und etablierte eine Schiffsverbindung nach Boulongne in Frankreich. | The harbour company of Folkestone, located in the shire of Kent next to the English Channel, was founded in 1807 by an Act of Parliament. The repeated siltation of the harbour niggled the company. The company failed in 1842. The dockyards became part of the South Eastern Railway Company (SER). The railway company managed the problems and opened a ship route to Boulogne in France.
