	Bis auf wenige unbedeutende Nebenbahnen wurden nach und nach alle Bahnen in Deutschland verstaatlicht. 1924 wurde das Betriebsrecht auf die neu gegründete Deutsche Reichsbahn übertragen. Am 07.09.1949 entstand aus ihr die Deutsche Bundesbahn. Diese schloss sich zum 01.01.1994 mit der Deutschen Reichsbahn (Staatsbahn der DDR, ebenfalls 1949 entstanden) zur Deutschen Bahn AG zusammen.
