| Die Chemnitzer Maschinenbau-Gesellschaft wurde im März 1872 von R. A. Seelig und Adolf Martini (beide Berlin) und Carl Mankiewicz (Dresden) gegründet. Sie war eine typische Gründung dieser Tage. Im Juni 1873 erhöhte die Gesellschaft das Kapital. Doch bereits im Herbst fehlte es wieder an Geld. Was bei einem Blick auf die Geschäftsführung allerdings nicht wunderte. Der Direktor Behrend befasste sich lieber mit Gründungen und der Spekulation an der Börse, während es in der Fabrik drunter und drüber ging. Der Prokurist war ebenfalls der Spekulation zugeneigt. Er entwendete 6.000 Thaler aus der Kasse und wurde daraufhin entlassen. Die Bilanz des Jahres 1874 zeigte noch 42 Prozent des Aktienkapitals - und die erwies sich später auch noch als gefälscht. Beim Konkurs im April 1875 hatte die Gesellschaft Schulden von 1,45 Millionen Thaler aufgehäuft. | ||||
| The Chemnitzer Maschinenbau-Gesellschaft was founded by R. A. Seelig and Adolf Martini (both from Berlin), and Carl Manekiewicz (Dresden) in March 1872. The company was a typical foundation of its time. The company raised the capital in June 1873, but needed again cash in autumn of the same year. The circumstance is not a miracle, when you have a look at the management: Director Behrend was more engaged in foundations and speculations on the stock market, than with his own company. He did not realise the chaos in his company. The proxy was also addicted to speculation. He steel 6,000 Thaler from the company funds and was fired. The balance sheet showed only 42 per cent of the share capital at the end of 1874, later shareholders realised, that even this balance sheet was counterfeit. The company had liabilities of 1.45 million Thaler, when it went bankrupt in 1875. | ||||
