| The Israelite House of David, oft auch nur The House of David genannt, ist eine Religionsgemeinschaft in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Die Kommune wurde im März 1903 von Benjamin and Mary Purnell ins Leben gerufen und wuchs ziemlich schnell. Bereits nach kurzer Zeit erntete man eigene Früchte und baute Getreide an, besaß eine eigene Konservenfabrik, Zimmerei, Wagenfabrik, Schneiderei und Dampfwäscherei wie auch ein Elektrizitätswerk. Darüber hinaus gab es drei Brassbands und zwei Orchester sowie einen zoologischen Garten. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Israelite House of David, often referred to as The House of David, is a religious society in Benton Harbour, Michigan. It was co-founded by Benjamin and Mary Purnell in March 1903. The commune grew very fast and after a short time it harvested own fruits and cultivated grain, had its own cannery, carpenter shop, coach factory, tailor shop and steam laundry as well as an own electricity plant.
