| Die Hersteller von Musikinstrumenten wurde 1864 von den Brüdern William und Robert Bell in Guelph, Ontario, Kanada gegründet. 1881 bauten die rund 200 Mitarbeiter jährlich etwa 1.200 Ziehharmonikas und Harmonien. Diese wurden bis nach Australien exportiert. 1888 wurde die Firma an ein englisches Syndikat verkauft und der Name in Bell Organ and Piano Co, Ltd geändert. Die Produktion von Pianos wurde aufgenommen. 1907 erfolgte die Umfirmierung in Bell Piano and Organ Company, Limited. 1928 wurde die Firma dann an ein Syndikat, das von John S. Dowling aus Brantford, Ontario geführt wurde, verkauft. Die Produktion von Harmonien wurde eingestellt und der Name in Bell Pianos Ltd. geändert. 1934 wurde die Firma schließlich an Lesage Pianos verkauft, welche das Bell-Design verewigt haben. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The company was established in 1864 in Guelph, Ontario, Canada by the brothers William and Robert Bell. By 1881 nearly 200 employees produced annually over 1200 melodeons and reed organs, some of which were exported as far as Australia. The company was sold to an English syndicate in 1888, at which time the name was changed to the Bell Organ and Piano Co, Ltd, and the manufacture of pianos has begun. The name was changed to Bell Piano and Organ Company, Limited in 1907. It was sold to a syndicate headed by John S. Dowling of Brantford, Ontario in 1928. The manufacture of organs was discontinued and the company renamed Bell Pianos Ltd.
