| Sir Arthur Helps, Besitzer des Grundstücks am Vernon Hill, initiierte 1862 die Gründung der Gesellschaft. Es wurden Ziegelsteine sowie Fließen hergestellt. | A pottery was established at Bishop's Waltham, South Hants, in September 1862, when the Bishop's Waltham Clay Company Limited was formed, having been promoted by the late Sir Arthur Helps, owner at the time of the Vernon Hill estate, on which the works were situated. The manufacture at first consisted of ordinary red ware, retl and black tiles, bricks, etc., and the black bricks used in the construction of Blackfriars Bridge.
