| Die Underground Electric Railways Company of London Limited, bekannt als The Underground, wurde 1902 gegründet. Sie war die Holdinggesellschaft für die drei in den Jahren 1906 und 1907 eröffneten U-Bahnen Baker Street and Waterloo Railway, Charning Cross, Euston and Hampstead Railway sowie für die Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway. 1933 geriet die Gesellschaft in finanzielle Schwierigkeiten. In der Folge wurde von der Stadt das London Passenger Transport Board ins Leben gerufen. Dieses übernahm alle unabhängigen und kommunal betriebenen Eisenbahnen-, Bus- und Straßenbahnlinien im Großraum London. | ||||
| The Underground Electric Railways Company of London Limited, known as The Underground, was established in 1902. It was the holding company for the three deep-level tube underground railway lines in London opened during 1906 and 1907: the Baker Street and Waterloo Railway, the Charning Cross, Euston and Hampstead Railway and the Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway. Financial problems of the company led to the establishment of the London Passenger Transport Board in 1933, which absorbed the company and all of the independent and municipally operated railway, bus and tram services in the London area. | ||||
