	Die Bank wurde 1894 vom Eisenbahnpionier Adolf Guyer-Zeller gegründet um den Bau einer Bahnstrecke zum Gipfel der Jungfrau zu finanzieren. 1959 fusionierte das Institut mit der Zurmont Bank, der Schweizer Tochtergesellschaft der Londoner Merchant Bank Samuel Montagu & Co. Später wurde die Midland Bank zur größten Aktionärin. Als diese 1992 von der HSBC Holdings Plc übernommen wurde, wurde die Bank, die seit 1999 als HSBC Guyerzeller Bank AG firmiert, teil der HSBC-Gruppe. 2009 gingen die Aktivitäten der Bank auf die HSBC Private Bank (Suisse) S.A. über.
