Harry Payne Whitney (1872-1930) war Bankier und Financier. Whitney war nach 1902 Partner von Daniel Guggenheim und später einer der Stifter des berühmten Whitney Museums in New York, das nach seinem Tod 1931 eröffnet wurde. Mit seiner Frau Gertrude Vanderbilt war er die bestimmende Persönlichkeit im New Yorker Kulturleben seiner Zeit. | ||||
Issued in the name of William C. Whitney and signed in the back by Harry P. Whitney as Executor of William C. Whitney. Harry Payne Whitney (1872-1930) was a banker and financier. After 1902 Whitney became the partner of Daniel Guggenheim and later-on one of the founders of the famous Whitney Museum in New York, which was inaugurated after his death in 1931. Together with his wife Gertrude Vanderbilt, he was the leading personality in the cultural life of New York during his time. | ||||
