| Die 1862 gegründete Western Pacific Railroad stand von Beginn an unter dem großen Einfluss der Big Four of California (Stanford, Huntington, Crocker und Hopkins). Sie baute den westlichen Anschluss der Transkontinentalen Einsenbahn von San Francisco nach Sacramento. Zur Finanzierung des Unternehmens wurde 1865 ein Bond mit 30 Jahren Laufzeit ausgegeben, der Pacific Rail-Road Bond genannt wurde. | ||||
