27 Los 630 Roulette de Monte Carlo - XXe Siècle Complete issue of XXe Siècle, No. 4, Noël 1938 with the top item: Roulette de Monte Carlo, Paris, 1 November 1924, Lithogra- phy reprint (from XXe Siècle, No. 4, Christmas 1938) of an 20 % Bond for 500 Francs, #12, 31.7 x 22.5 cm, red, green, white, black, on back repaired with paper at one corner, otherwise EF, 2,000 reprints issued, view of a roulette table with a horned head in la- ther. The original bond was auctioned at an art auction at a price of US-$ 2.4 millions in 2015. It is the most expensive Scripophily in the world! Included in XXe Siècle are eight original engravings of Henri Matisse, Giorgio de Chirico, Miró, Arp, Henri Laurens, Magnelli, Zadkine, and Hélion, as well as one lithography of Max Bill. The company was founded by Marcel Duchamp in 1924. Duchamp was sole owner and manager of the company. He had the idea to blast the casino of Monte Carlo by a system he developed. He issued the bonds to finance his plans. Duchamp planned to sell 30 Bonds. But he sold less than the 30 bonds in the end. To execute his plan, Duchamp travelled to Monte Carlo at the beginning of 1925. Despite he did not lost money, he stopped his experiment after a few weeks. Das Original brachte 2015 auf einer Kunstauktion 2,4 Millionen US-Dol- lar. Es ist damit das teuerste Historische Wertpapier der Welt. Ebenfalls enthalten sind acht Originalstiche von Henri Matisse, Giorgio de Chirico, Miró, Arp, Henri Laurens, Ma- gnelli, Zadkine und Hélion sowie eine Lithographie von Max Bill. Die Gesellschaft wurde 1924 von Marcel Duchamp gegrün- det. Er war Geschäftsführer und auch alleiniger Eigentümer. Mit Hilfe von Obligationen wollte er ein von ihm entwickel- tes System finanzieren, mit dem er die Bank des Casinos in Monte Carlo zu sprengen hoffte. Insgesamt wollte Duchamp 30 Anleihen platzieren. Doch es wurden weit weniger Anlei- hen verkauft. Anfang 1925 reiste Duchamp nach Monte Car- lo um seinen Plan in die Tat umzusetzen. Doch nach weni- gen Wochen gab er auf (ohne dabei Geld verloren zu ha- ben!).
