54. Auktion fur Historische Wertpapiere Teil 1 Auktion 25 Januar 2020

6 Dear Sir or Madam, We are proud to present a high quality scripophily offer. The 50 highlights of the auction are shown with large pic- tures and texts in German and English or Russian langua- ge. As done in the last auctions we divided the auction in two parts. The first part is the 54th auction (public auc- tion) on January 25th. It contains the lots 1 to 842. It is our goal to offer in the public auction those lots, which are interesting for collectors attending our live auctions. Therefore you will find many rare items in our 55th auc- tion (online auction), too. This auction contains the lots 843 to 2,096. Please use our indices and our search engine at our web page. The web page is available in eleven lan- guages! At the web search you can also combine your search. You can, for example, only look for items from one industry from one country. This will give you a quick overview over the items which are fitting in your collection. We are proud to offer an outstanding selection of Scripophily in our auc- tion, especially the largest collection of stocks and bonds in relation to the Daimler-Benz AG (Lot 635). The collection shows many facets of business: Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz, two talented engineers – they never met personally – had many different struggles on the way to success. The mer- ger of the two companies was not organised by the two entrepreneurs, it was the work of Deutsche Bank. The bank had receivables against both companies and the autombile industry was in difficulties at the beginning of the 1920s. Therfore the bank organised the merger and exchanged their receivables into shares of the new company. Deutsche Bank provided the Chairman of the board for the following eight decades. But this did not prevent shareholders from bad management decisions by the CEOs Ezard Reuter and Jürgen Schrepp, which caused a bad stock market perfor- mance. The auction will take place in the Barockhäuser (Grei- singsäle) at Neubaustr. 12, 97070 Würzburg (Germany). Please feel free to contact us for free maps. After the auction, there will be a dinner at Backöfele restaurant (Ursulinengasse 2, Würzburg) only 300 meters away from the auction room. The joint dinner starts at 7.00 p.m. in Backöfele itself. If you wish to take part there, please make re- servation with our office (e-mail: auktion@hwph.de or telephone: +49-8106-246186 ). Deadline is January 20th. The next auction will be on 12 September 2020 in Würzburg. We are looking for high quality consignments and whole collections for the May-auction already now.
