	Die Gesellschaft wurde am 15. Dezember 1876 gegründet. Sie betrieb die Straßenbahnen in Magdeburg und besaß 1943 ein Streckennetz von 54,7 Kilometern. Nach dem Krieg wurde die Firma in den VEB Magdeburger Verkehrsbetriebe umgewandelt. Dieser wurde 1991 wieder in eine AG und 1999 dann in die Magdeburger Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH überführt.
