	Die Gesellschaft wurde 1907 als Österreichische Fiat-Werke AG durch die Turiner FIAT S.p.A. gegründet. Ab 1921 firmierte die Gesellschaft als Österreichische Automobil-Fabriks-AG, vormals Austro-Fiat und ab 1939 als Österreichische Automobil-Fabriks-AG. Es wurden PKW’s, LKW’s, Omnibusse, Schiffs- und Flugmotoren hergestellt. Mit dem Ausbruch des Ersten Weltkriegs riss die Verbindung zum Turiner Mutterhaus ab. Die an der Wiener Börse notierte Austro-Fiat geriet in die Interessenssphäre des Castiglioni-Konzerns.
