| Mit weltweit mehr als 45 Millionen Mitgliedern ist die Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) die weltweit größte Jugendorganisation. In Deutschland ist sie als Christlicher Verein Junger Menschen (CVJM) bekannt. Der erste YMCA wurde am 06.06.1844 in London von Georg Williams gegründet. Ziel war es, jungen Männern in der Großstadt Glaubens- und Lebensorientierung zu geben. | The Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) has more than 45 million members all over the world. It is the largest youth organization of the world. In Germany the organization is known as Christlicher Verein Junger Menchen (CVJM). On 6 June 1844, George Williams founded the first YMCA in London with the purpose of "the improving of the spiritual condition of young men engaged in the drapery, embroidery, and other trades.
