Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts hatte Sevilla nach Bombay und Madras die höchste Kindersterblichkeit weltweit. Verantwortlich dafür war die schlechte Trinkwasserversorgung sowie das Fehlen eines Abwassersystems. Die mit englischem Kapital aufgebaute Firma hatte eine verbesserte Wasserversorgung zum Zweck.
At the end of the 19th century Sevilla had the highest infant mortality after Bombay and Madras. One reason for this was the poor supply with clean drinkable water and the lack of a wastewater system. The company, which was financed with English capital, wanted to improve the water supply.
