Die Medaille wurde von König Ferdinand VII für Verdienste um die Stadt Saragossa während der napoleonischen Kriege in Spanien (1814) verliehen.
The medal was conceded by the King Fernando VII to defenders of the city of Zaragoza during the second siege (year 1814, Napoleonic Wars in Spain). This document is signed in the Royal Palace by Mr. Francisco Joseph Bernaldo de Quirós, a very important person in the Spanish court (the first paragraph is a detailed account of all titles of this member of the court). In the bottom of the document you can see the coat of arms of the Quirós family with the arrogant text “después de Dios la casa de Quirós” (After God, the House of Quirós).
