 Die Gesellschaft wurde 1949 in Düsseldorf unter der Firma Industriekreditbank AG gegründet. 1974/75 kam es zur Fusion mit der Deutschen Industriebank und 1991 zur Umfirmierung in IKB Deutsche Industriebank. Noch heute stellt das Spezialinstitut mittel- und langfristige Kredite für den Mittelstand zur Verfügung.
