 Paris, 1 July 1939, Action de Jouissance au Porteur, #178890, 32.8 x 25 cm, brown, ochre, small tears, horizontal fold, right edge uneven because of cut coupons, otherwise EF, some coupons remaining, very decorative certificate with a view of Paris, a route map and the Metro.

 Sechs Bewerber buhlten 1897 um den Auftrag zum Bau der Pariser U-Bahn. Die von Edouard Empain kontrollierte Compagnie Générale de Traction gewann die Ausschreibung. Zur Ausführung des Auftrags gründete Empain 1898 die Companie du Chemin de Fer Métropolitain de Paris. 1900, also im Jahr der Weltausstellung, wurde die Métro feierlich eröffnet.
History (English)
 In 1897 six companies were competing to build the subway of Paris. Finally the Compagnie Générale de Traction, which was controlled by Edouard Empain, won the competition. Empain founded in 1898 the Companie du Chemin de Fer Métropolitain de Paris to execute the order. In 1900, when the world exposition took place in Paris, the Métro was opened.
