History (German)
 Die Firma war eine Tochter der East India Company, wurde 1845 gegründet und 1853 reorganisiert. 1856 nahm die Bahn die Strecke zwischen Veyasarpaudy und Walajah Road in Betrieb. Der Abschnitt wurde später bis Madras erweitert. 1859 kam die Strecke von Allahabad nach Kanpur hinzu.
